JORGE VILLANUEVA

Jorge Villanueva is an innovative wellness practitioner specializing in the use of drums and rhythm as therapeutic tools. Jorge has become a leading figure in the field, known for his unique platform which emphasizes the profound impact of rhythm on mental and physical well-being.

Growing up in the vibrant city of Tijuana, Mexico, Jorge developed a deep appreciation for the cultural and musical diversity of his hometown. His journey into music wellness began with his love for drums and percussion. He earned degrees in music at the Orquesta de Baja California and Los Angeles College of Music. 

As a GRAMMY award artist, Jorge has won audiences with his unique style of combination of drums and hand percussion from around the world. His music appeared in soundtracks, Matthew Modine’s “One Last Score”, Neftlix shows, documentaries, and commercials, to name a few. 

Upon his success in music, Jorge established Beat Based Movement, serving a wide range of clients, including children with autism, adults dealing with stress, anxiety and depression, and elderly individuals seeking cognitive and emotional support. Currently, wellness and mental health centers around Los Angeles County are offering Beat Based Movement programs, including: Los Angeles Outpatient Center, The Meadowglade, Beachside Teen Treatment Center, Hillcrest Adolescent Treatment Center, and more.

Beat Based Movement group sessions are available in Culver City year-around at These Hands Collective.
